Q: If you are wearing a nice dress (something that would look good at court) how do you wear a dagger? I feel naked without some steel, but it seems to clash with the dresses my friends have been making me lately.
A: I don’t know that there’s any evidence for
ladies wearing daggers in period. I certainly
don’t recall ever seeing any. That would be why they clash. I think that is far more of a RenFaire thing; certainly
I wore one when I was doing that, and for
a while after I got in the SCA, but I don’t even know where it is, now, and haven’t for years.
