too lazy to embroider

I am working on my bliaut, and finally realized I am never going to embroider the sleeves like I want to. I was thinking of quilting a band and attaching it instead.

I was thinking of something along the lines of the border pattern on this manuscript

I think the pattern would really work well, and you could further duplicate a look of embroidery by couching cording along the diamonds and on the straight edges. Should be pretty fast work with a braid foot on the machine using the zig zag stitch. It would add a dimensional aspect.

Another fast idea is to use a contrasting solid color band and sew on metal stampings. I’m always on the hunt for interesting ones. Some interesting stuff here:
