- Eric and Enide - Literary Sources Another thought on continuity - I have been reading a translation of Eric and Enide by Chretien de Troyes at: http://www.netserf.org/Literature/Authors/Chretien_de_Troyes/ and I am amazed at how similar the human experience is in terms of this romance. Poor girl from good family wins prince with her beauty and all that entails. There are lots of nice costume details in this story - my hope is to compare them to the original French, because it seems sometimes that the translators are not as clear on clothing words than say on actions or relationships.
