I applaud the embroidery! I have no intention of learning how to weave – I don’t need any more hobbies in this grand huge hobby of ours. I embroider, love it and plan to put that machine made stuff out of business (no offense to the merchants out there!)
I wish I could find more (hint, hint) on which stitches were used, where, etc., for embellishments and pictures of embroidery on clothing. I see lots of text saying things were embroidered and beaded for embellishment. But I’d like to know that what I am doing might actually be period. I know what I think looks good, but I have all that modern stuff rolling around my brain too.
I am attempting the one keyhole neck pattern
currently. I have found machine made trim that is very much like the heart shaped pattern in 1 inch and
3 inch wide. The 2 inch would make
a great belt, but I’d like to give a go at the neck on my own. I’m using the same color scheme as the trim,
mostly couching everything on at
this point. Lots of gold, dark pink, rich periwinkle blue, and ecru, and a bit of emerald green. yum!
